FAQs and Useful Tips

FAQ

Q: How do I export artwork
A: You can export your artwork in two different ways: sharing, and using iTunes.

Sharing
The share option uses the iPhone’s built in sharing feature which allows you to share via Messages, Mail, Twitter, Facebook, and more. You will need to be logged in with the associated account through the iPhone Settings.  To share, open the Menu, and then select share.

For better visibility and image quality, your artwork will be scaled up to an appropriate size when sharing.

iTunes
The iTunes option can export your artwork directly to your computer. Unlike Sharing, exporting through iTunes can preserve the original sizing and quality of your image files. To access your artwork with iTunes, plug in your device to your computer and start up iTunes. Navigate to your iPhone, and then select Apps. The screen should show all of your apps and a preview of your phone Home Screens. Scroll down to the File Sharing section located below the Apps. Select the app Best Pixel. Your files will be revealed in the Documents view section. You can drag and drop the files from here into your computer.

Q: How do I change color?
A: To change the color to draw with, select a Color Button from the bottom toolbar. Notice that the Color Button becomes highlighted. You can edit this color by tapping it again to enter the Color Edit Mode.

Once in Color Edit Mode, you cannot draw anymore, as the Draw Tools will automatically change to the Color Dropper. This will allow you to pick the color directly from your artwork.  You can also change your color using the RBG Rollers or the Palette.

To exit Color Edit Mode, select the current highlighted Color Button.

Q: Where is the eraser?
A: There is no eraser, we have something better: Erase Color. This allows any Drawing Tool to erase. You can erase with the Pencil or Bucket Fill, by using the Erase Color.

The Erase Color is located at the left side of the bottom toolbar. It is the button with the X. The Erase Color Button cannot be edited.

Q: Open images from my Photos Library
A: You cannot open images from your Device’s Photos Library. Because of the way photos are compressed in the library, there is a significant quality loss for pixel art. This makes photos stored in the Photo’s Library unusable for our app. You can only open images stored within the App’s Documents Directory.
